A simple launch plan

  1. Three weeks before: join queue-based sites (BetaList, Uneed) and list on IndieDaddy with the badge.
  2. Launch day: one main launch board, plus Show HN if technical.
  3. Week after: a second wave on smaller boards and communities.
  4. Next month: evergreen directories and review sites, a few per week.

Use the launch checklist to keep track, and read where to launch your startup for templates.

Frequently asked questions

Where should I launch my startup?

Where your buyers already spend time. Makers and founders: IndieDaddy, Peerlist, Indie Hackers, Tiny Startups. Developers: Show HN, Dev Hunt, GitHub. Consumers: Product Hunt, Uneed, Fazier. Pre-launch: BetaList.

How many launch sites should I use?

Two or three for launch week, then 20 to 30 reputable directories over the following month. Spread submissions out rather than doing 40 in a day.

Which launch sites give dofollow backlinks?

Several give a free dofollow link if you keep their badge on your site (IndieDaddy, Launch Llama, Noonlaunch, IndieTool); others only on paid plans. Terms change, so check each site before you submit.
